Fiber patch cables (or patch cords) are fiber-optic cables terminated with connectors (LC, SC, MTP, etc.) on both ends, used to quickly connect network devices like switches, routers, and servers in data centers and telecom networks. They provide high-speed, low-loss data transmission, utilizing single-mode for long distances or multi-mode for short distances. They are comprised of a core, cladding, and protective aramid yarn/jacket, typically measuring 125um in diameter. They are available in single-mode (yellow, for long-distance) and multi-mode (orange/aqua, for short-distance). Simplex (one fiber) and duplex (two fibers for bidirectional communication) are optional. Common types include LC, SC, ST, and FC. They are essential for data centers, LANs, telecommunications, and high-bandwidth fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) setups.
