A keystone jack is a standardized female connector used to terminate Ethernet cables (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) or other communication wires in, homes, and offices. They act as a, secure connection point that snaps into wall plates, patch panels, or surface mount boxes, providing a clean and, versatile networking infrastructure. They are designed with a specific, standard shape that allows them to snap easily into various outlets, such as wall plates or patch panels, facilitating easy installation and future maintenance. Beyond Ethernet (RJ45), keystone inserts exist for audio/video (HDMI, RCA, Banana plugs), telephone (RJ11), and fiber-optic, connectors. Using a punch-down tool, individual, cable wires are secured into color-coded slots on the back of the jack, ensuring a reliable, connection. They consist of a, plastic housing with a, connector, featuring a, retaining clip and a, sloped edge to fit snugly, into ports. They are commonly used in Ethernet Cabling, Media Centers, Patch Panels, PoE Applications, etc. There are 3 different types of Keystone Jacks, Shielded vs Unshielded, Tool-less Jacks, and 90-degree vs 180-degree.
