MTP/MPO cables are high-density fiber optic cables designed to house multiple fibers (typically 8, 12, 16, 24, or 32) within a single connector, enabling efficient, high-speed data transmission in data centers and LANs. They are ideal for 40G/100G/400G applications, significantly reducing space requirements compared to traditional connectors like LC or SC. MPO (Multi-fiber Push-On) is the standard, while MTP® (Multi-fiber Pull Off) is a branded, high-performance version by US Conec that is fully compliant with MPO standards. MTP connectors offer improved optical and mechanical performance. These cables support 12-72 fibers in one connector, crucial for high-speed network infrastructure. Trunk cables are used for permanent links, connecting MTP/MPO patch panels. Breakout/Harness Cables are fan out from an MTP/MPO connector to individual connectors (like LC or SC). MTP/MPO systems use "Key-Up/Key-Down" mechanisms to maintain correct fiber polarity for network signal flow. MTP/MPO connectors come in male (with guide pins) and female (without guide pins) to ensure precise alignment. They are primarily used for high-speed data center cabling (40G/100G/400G Ethernet), providing fast, space-saving installation.
