Description

Fiber patch cables provide interconnect and cross-connect of applications over installations in entrance facilities, telecommunications rooms, data centers, and at the desk.

This OM5 fiber patch cable meets TIA-492AAAE and draft IEC 60793-2-10 A1a.4 requirements while completely backward compatible with existing OM4 networks and applications.

The bend insensitive fiber patch cable for multi-wavelengths transmission systems operating in the range of 850-953nm, enabling optimal support of emerging Shortwave Wavelength Division Multiplexing (SWDM) applications that reduce parallel fiber count by at least a factor of four to allow continued use of just two fibers (rather than eight) for transmitting 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s and reduced fiber counts for higher speeds.

Fiber Polarity

Two types of duplex fiber patch cables are defined in the TIA standard: A-to-A type shown in Figure 1 and A-to-B type shown in Figure 2. Note: A-to-A patch cables are not commonly deployed and should be used only when necessary as part of a polarity method (See ANSI/TIA 568.3-D). To help the industry select and install the right components to maintain proper polarity, TIA-568-C standards recommend the A-B polarity scenario for duplex patch cords.

A-to-B Fiber Polarity Commonly Used in Fiber Applications

To help the industry select and install the right components to maintain proper polarity, TIA-568-C standards recommend the A-B polarity scenario for duplex patch cords.
