Network plugs (commonly RJ45) are connectors used to terminate Ethernet cables for networking equipment like routers and switches. Boot covers are protective, slide-on plastic sleeves for these connectors that prevent tab breakage (snagging), provide strain relief, reduce dust/oxidation, and assist with cable management. These 8P8C (eight-position, eight-contact) connectors are standard for Cat5e, Cat6, and other twisted-pair cables. They can be shielded (metal shell) or unshielded. Boot Covers are slipped onto the cable before crimping the plug. They protect the fragile plastic locking tab from snapping off when cables are pulled through tight spaces. Options include standard half-dome covers, molded boots for extra durability, and 90-degree angled boots for space-constrained, tight connections. Boots are designed to fit different cable diameters (typically up to 6.5 mm) and come in various colors for color-coding network connections. Using boot covers ensures a more secure, durable connection, reducing maintenance and preventing accidental disconnects.
