A surface mount box is a protective, external enclosure for electrical, data, or communication cabling that is installed directly onto a wall surface rather than embedded inside it. Ideal for retrofitting, concrete walls, or where drilling is not possible, these boxes offer a quick, non-invasive way to mount outlets, switches, and network jacks. They are usually mounted directly on top of walls, desks, or baseboards using screws or adhesive tape, providing immediate, easy access for maintenance. They are commonly used in warehouses, factories, older buildings, and temporary setups where surface-mounted conduits or cabling are required. They often house Cat5e or Cat6 keystone jacks, allowing for easy expansion of network connections in offices or homes. They are also used for adding light switches or power outlets without cutting into existing walls, often used with systems like Ajax systems.  They save time and labor, are highly adaptable to various surfaces, and facilitate simple, non-destructive wiring modifications. Surface mount boxes are a flexible, durable solution for both residential and commercial spaces needing, for example, Legrand voice/data connectivity or Leviton multimedia outlet systems.
